Christkindlmarkt, Leeds
Set in Millennium square, the Leeds Market is one of the most established German -style markets in the UK. It has more than 40 wooden chalet stalls selling everything from handcrafted toys to gingerbread and candied fruits. There is also a traditional Christmas carousel as well as a selection of children’s rides and attractions. Opening times are 10.30am to 9.30pm from Monday-Saturday and 10.30am to 7.30pm on Sundays.

St Nicholas Fayre, York
Thousands of people head for the St Nicholas Fayre in York every year to shop for gifts, crafts, sweets and treats some of the very best in local farm produce as well as international produce from France and Germany.

Sheffield Christmas Market
This is a market of traditional wooden cabins which offer a huge choice of seasonal gifts, treats and food. Santa has his very own Lapland cabin. The market is open daily 10am-6pm (8pm Wednesdays) until Christmas Eve.

Harrogate Christmas Market
Head for the Stray in the town’s Montpellier Quarter for this four-day festive market for some of the finest Christmas shopping at something like 190 stalls selling everything from cheeses and chutneys to handmade gifts and Christmas decorations. Visit Santa’s Grotto, the children’s funfair and enjoy the musical entertainment. The market is open 10am-8pm Thursday-Saturday and 10am-5pm Sunday.
